On Saturday, May 20, 2023, San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity hosted the Grand Opening of it’s 3rd and largest ReStore in the city of Pasadena. After months of hard work from our construction crew, staff and volunteers; the doors to the 20,000 square foot ReStore opened to over 200 customers on opening day.

The Grand Opening day of events began with a ribbon cutting ceremony hosted by the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce. In attendance on behalf of SGV Habitat was Bryan Wong (SGV Habitat CEO) and Miriam Garcia (SGV Habitat Director of Retail Operations) as well as US Congresswoman Judy Chu, and Pasadena City Council members Gene Masuda (District 4) and Felicia Williams (District 2).

Miriam Garcia (SGV Habitat Director of Retail Operations) expressed the importance of our ReStores in the community, “Look at the walls, look at the mission it’s everywhere in the store, and understand that every single dime that you spend in this store goes back to why we are all here, which is to have affordable housing in our community.”

Although everyone in attendance was ready to shop, customers were treated to extra discounts, refreshments and activities. The first 50 customers received a 40% off coupon and thanks to generous local sponsors such as Dunkin Donuts, Sprouts, VONS, and Trader Joes, all of our customers were treated to refreshments while they shopped.

The successful Grand Opening was in part thanks to the many volunteers who assisted in the Grand Opening activities. Customers who visited our volunteer information booth was given the opportunity to spin the wheel for some exclusive SGV Habitat promotional items. One of the highlights of the day, was the DIY workshop which allowed customers to learn a new skill, build a flower bed and take it home with them.

The Pasadena ReStore receives donations throughout the day of brand new and used appliances, furniture, home decor and building supplies. Stop by and shop our Great Stuff at Great Prices for a Great Cause.
